An up to 1.5-hour online quality of life assessment, including a consultation on your pet's quality of life and a customized care plan.

Includes the in-home visit, sedation, euthanasia procedure, a personalized clay paw print, grief and pet-loss resources, and notification to your family veterinarian. A two-hour appointment window is reserved so you never feel rushed. For dogs, cats, and small mammals.

A 2.5-hour initial home consultation covering palliative care, hospice care, and chronic pain management: review of medical records, quality-of-life evaluation, thorough physical exam, and a customized care plan, plus two weeks of ongoing support by email, phone, or text.

Follow-up visits after the first two weeks (without an ongoing care relationship) are $500. Ongoing active care is available at $180/month. Palliative and hospice care are limited to dogs and cats.

Your pet is cremated individually and the ashes are returned to you in one of our complimentary urns. Includes a free digital paw print. Cremains may be picked up from your primary veterinary office or the crematorium in Gilroy, or shipped to you.

For private burial in a pet memorial park, arrangements can be made directly with the pet cemetery (e.g. Bubbling Well in Napa or Pet's Rest in Colma). For home burial, please check your local and county regulations first.
No fee is collected by Compassion Pet Hospice for private burial arrangements.

If natural death occurs before a scheduled euthanasia appointment, we can still come to your home to care for your pet's body with dignity and transport for aftercare.

Dr. Ma is not available for evening appointments. Weekend and holiday appointments are occasionally available with advance arrangement (additional $150 after-hours fee). Same-day or urgent appointments are occasionally available (additional $100–$150 fee).

An additional non-negotiable $75 travel fee applies to extended areas: Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Union City.
Please give at least 24-hour advance notice for changes or cancellations. For in-home visits: $75 fee for changes/cancellations within 24 hours, $125 within 2 hours, $175 if Dr. Ma is already en route or no one answers the door (Dr. Ma waits up to 15 minutes).
This fee system is necessary because short-notice changes and cancellations affect our ability to help other pets and families in need.
Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, personal checks, PayPal, Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. A discount is offered for cash or check payments. CareCredit is not accepted; Scratchpay is accepted.
